The Hawaii Kai Lions and Nagoya Joto Lions on April 12 donated gifts to the Hawaii Kai Public Library. 2007 represents the 20th year that the Nagoya Joto Lions Club and Hawaii Kai Lions Club have jointly made annual gifts to the Hawaii Kai Public Library. Lion President Noboru Higa gave a monetary gift and a samurai face mask from the Nagoya Joto Lions. Lion President Ken Nishibun gave a monetary gift from the Hawaii Kai Lions. He also said, "In addition to monetary gifts, members of the Hawaii Kai Lions Club have provided manpower over these years to paint portions of the building, to undertake yard cleaning, and to do any other maintenance needs." Ms. Colleen Lashway, branch manager of Hawaii Kai Public Library thanked the Lions for the gifts. She said the new samurai face mask from Nagoya Joto Lions compliments the dolls and paintings on display at the library. Serving as interpreter was Yoko Wee, daugher-in-law of Lion DG Merv Wee.
